This stick bag-in-pouch packaging line is designed for automatic production and secondary packaging of small coffee powder sachets.
The line integrates coffee powder dosing, stick bag forming, automatic sorting, weight inspection, pre-made pouch loading, final weight checking, and metal detection into one continuous packaging process.
In this application, the inner sachet contains 1–4 g of coffee powder, while each outer pouch holds two inner sachets. The required package weight tolerance is controlled within ±3%.
This configuration is suitable for coffee sample packs, multi-size combination packs, and other small-format coffee products.
Inner and Outer Packaging Formats
Inner Bag: 1–4 g Coffee Powder Stick Pack
The inner package uses a rounded-corner back-seal bag with a diagonal-pattern transverse seal and a dotted tear line.
This compact bag format is suitable for small coffee powder portions and is also convenient for automatic sorting and insertion into the outer pouch.
Key features include:
- 1–4 g coffee powder filling
- Rounded-corner back-seal structure
- Diagonal-pattern transverse seal
- Dotted easy-tear line
- Suitable for automatic secondary packaging
Outer Pouch: Pre-Made Zipper Pouch
The outer package uses a pre-made zipper pouch.
Each pouch contains two inner coffee powder bags. The two bags can have different package weights or specifications, making the format suitable for combination products.
For example, one outer pouch can combine different coffee powder portions for:
- Coffee sample packs
- Trial packs
- Multi-size product combinations
- Promotional packs
- Product sampling
Stick Bag-in-Pouch Packaging Line Equipment Configuration
The complete line combines inner bag packaging, automatic sorting, weight inspection, pre-made pouch loading, and finished-product inspection.
Equipment | Quantity | Main Function |
GH300BF-4 Multi-Lane Back-Seal Powder Packaging Machine | 2 | Coffee powder dosing, filling, sachet forming and sealing |
Unordered Bag Sorting Lines | 2 | Sorting and conveying finished inner sachets |
Single-Lane Checkweighers | 3 | Weight inspection and rejection of out-of-tolerance products |
Automatic Pre-Made Pouch Packing Machines | 2 | Pouch feeding, zipper opening, air removal, sachet loading and pouch-mouth cleaning |
Metal Detector | 1 | Metal contaminant detection in finished products |
The GH300BF-4 multi-lane coffee packaging machine uses a long-auger dosing system for small coffee powder portions from 1 to 4 g.
The automatic pre-made pouch packing machines perform several operations, including pouch-bottom vibration, zipper opening, air removal, product pushing, hopper opening and closing, pouch-mouth dust cleaning, and bottom opening.
How Does the Stick-in-Pouch Packaging Line Work?
The complete packaging process follows these nine steps:
1. Coffee Powder Dosing
Two GH300BF-4 multi-lane back-seal powder packaging machines simultaneously dose the coffee powder using long-auger dosing systems.
2. Inner Sachet Forming
The packaging machines fill the measured coffee powder into the packaging film and complete longitudinal sealing, transverse sealing, and cutting to produce individual rounded-corner coffee powder bags.
3. Automatic Bags Sorting
The finished bags enter two unordered sorting lines, which organize and convey the bags toward the inspection and secondary packaging sections.
4. Inner Bag Weight Inspection
Each bag passes through a single-lane checkweigher. Products outside the preset weight range are automatically rejected, while qualified bags continue to the next stage.
5. Bag Merging and Conveying
Qualified bags are reorganized and merged through a partitioned conveyor system before entering the outer-pouch loading machines.
6. Pre-Made Pouch Opening
The sorted bags are divided into two lines and transferred to two automatic pre-made pouch packing machines.
The machines automatically pick up the zipper pouches, open the pouches, and remove excess air as required.
7. Loading Two Bags into One Outer Pouch
The packing machines automatically load two inner coffee powder bags into one pre-made zipper pouch.
The two bags can have different package specifications according to the product combination.
8. Finished-Product Weight Inspection
After the outer pouch is loaded, the finished package passes through a checkweigher for final weight inspection. This step verifies the overall weight of the completed stick bag-in-bag package.
9. Metal Detection
The finished pouch then passes through a metal detector for final inspection before entering the subsequent packing or shipping process.
Weight Inspection and Quality Control
This coffee powder stick bag-in-Pouch packaging line uses multiple inspection stages to control package quality. The inner sachets are checked after primary packaging to identify weight deviations before they enter the outer pouch.
After the two bags are loaded into the outer pouch, the completed package undergoes a second weight inspection.
Finally, the finished package passes through a metal detector. The overall inspection sequence is:
Inner bag weight inspection → Finished pouch weight inspection → Metal detection
For this application, the required individual package weight tolerance is within ±3%. Packages outside the preset tolerance range are automatically rejected. The stated 97%+ qualification rate is a separate production requirement and should not be confused with the ±3% weight tolerance.
Actual weighing performance can vary depending on coffee powder density, flowability, filling weight, packaging material, and machine settings.
Applications of the Coffee Powder Stick Bag-in-Pouch Packaging Line
This packaging solution is mainly suitable for:
- 1–4 g coffee powder bags
- Coffee sample packs
- Trial-size coffee products
- Multi-size combination packs
- Coffee product samples
- Products requiring multiple bags to be packed into one pre-made pouch
For coffee manufacturers producing small sachets and combination packs, a sachet-in-bag packaging line connects multiple processes that would otherwise require separate manual operations.
The complete system can integrate:
Dosing → Sachet forming → Sorting → Weight inspection → Pouch loading → Final checkweighing → Metal detection
This provides a practical automation solution for manufacturers looking to improve packaging consistency while reducing manual handling between primary and secondary packaging stages.
For a specific application, the appropriate configuration should be determined based on the coffee powder characteristics, inner and outer pouch sizes, sachet quantity per pouch, and required production capacity.
